The Merry Widow @ Palladium Theater

FRIDAY OCT 18 – SUNDAY OCT 20 – TUESDAY OCT 22

The Merry Widow (Lehár). Oct. 18, 20, 22 at the Palladium Theater. Glamorous widow Hanna Glawari is worth 20 million francs, which the scheming Pontevedrin ambassador, Baron Zeta, wants to keep in the country. Of her prospective suitors, only Count Danilo holds the key to Hanna’s heart – through a series of misunderstandings, jealous rages, comic interludes and moments of unbridled passion, The Merry Widow takes them – and the audience – from elegant parties to the intimate inner recesses of the human heart. In English with projected text above the stage. English version by Ted and Deena Puffer

The Turn of The Screw at freeFall Theatre @ freeFall Theatre
Precocious Miles and quiet Flora have a new governess. It quickly becomes apparent that this new job is more than she bargained for. When she learns the shocking truth about her predecessor, Miss Jessel, and begins to suspect that the orphans are under the influence of malevolent forces, she resolves to protect them by any means necessary. What unfolds is one of the eeriest and most deeply psychological ghost stories ever written. Hatcher’s razor-sharp adaptation preserves much of the ambiguity at the heart of Henry James’ classic novella. Is this place truly haunted, or is the governess the one plagued by demons of another sort? This show contains adult themes. Discretion advised.

There will be Talk Backs at the theater after the performances on Friday November 4, and Friday November 25.

Jobsite Theater presents The Thanksgiving Play @ Jobsite Theater

Ah, Thanksgiving, that most American of holidays: when families gather to celebrate the warmth of home, the bounty of the harvest — and a legacy of genocide and violent colonial expansion. Good intentions collide with absurd assumptions in Larissa FastHorse’s wickedly funny satire, as a troupe of terminally “woke” teaching artists scrambles to create a pageant that somehow manages to celebrate both Turkey Day and Native American Heritage Month. Kari Goetz returns to Jobsite after a few years away, previously helming lauded productions like The March of the Kitefliersboom!, and Crimes of the Heart.
